I choose to look at Lianna Bryant's video on youtube. I thought that the device that she was using was a great tool for her to communicate with anyone that wanted to talk with her. Lianna I was not able to speak on her own, but with the Tobii she was able to communicate. With new technology coming out, students with disabilities are able to be just as normal as anyone else. Seeing Liana so excited about telling her teacher the poem and about herself just made you wonder what other technology is there for students to use. I thought of a student that is partially blind that I know, and was curious if there is any Technology out there that they could use to communicate visually with others. If Lianna is able to use her eyes to dictate what her answer is I think there must be some other way that you could use your other senses to communicate with others. Leanna is now able to give clear answers to her teachers of what she wants, needs, and desires. I'm interested to see the technological advances as we move forward throughout the years for not only students without disabilities but also students with disabilities. Since I have taught at Hinsdale South I have come across many DHH( deaf and hard of hearing students ) in my classes. I'm amazed at what the students can to accomplish even though that they have a disability. Students with the disability do not use it as a crutch. They are understanding other disability and they use their enhanced skills to complete their tasks during the day. Many of the students that I've encountered do not let their disability get in their way. Many students like Lianna strive to be like every other kid, and succeed as a student and as a human being.

  1. As many schools and districts become more inclusive, we are seeing more students and a wider range of disabilities. It is amazing and inspiring to witness the opportunities and successes they can now experience with the help of technology!
